Things I missed

fast food indulgences in Luoyang

  1. Anything with mustard on it
  2. Falafel
  3. Anything made with a chickpea
  4. Talking fast
  5. Talking with slang
  6. Cheese
  7. Feminism
  8. Friends
  9. American bread
  10. Consistent electricity
  11. Consistent running water
  12. Hot running water
  13. Baths, though I would have settled for feeling clean occasionally
  14. Central heating
  15. Ice in drinks
  16. Drinking tap water
  17. Eating raw fruits and vegetables
  18. Breathing clean air
  19. Comfortable beds (most mattresses were boards with nice cloth on them)
  20. Feeling in control
  21. Feeling respected as a person, not as an object
  22. Black beans
  23. Diet Coke
  24. Toilet stalls (I didn't mind the squat toilets since they're cleaner, but I never got over the lack of privacy)
  25. Planning things in advance, not doing everything on the spur of the moment
