Things I missed
- Anything with mustard on it
- Falafel
- Anything made with a chickpea
- Talking fast
- Talking with slang
- Cheese
- Feminism
- Friends
- American bread
- Consistent electricity
- Consistent running water
- Hot running water
- Baths, though I would have settled for feeling clean occasionally
- Central heating
- Ice in drinks
- Drinking tap water
- Eating raw fruits and vegetables
- Breathing clean air
- Comfortable beds (most mattresses were boards with nice cloth on them)
- Feeling in control
- Feeling respected as a person, not as an object
- Black beans
- Diet Coke
- Toilet stalls (I didn't mind the squat toilets since they're cleaner, but I never got over the lack of privacy)
- Planning things in advance, not doing everything on the spur of the moment
