Snow!

And then ice. It is like snow that has been shellacked in place. This is why it is best to just live somewhere that it is cold enough to just snow and not get the ice part.

Traffic has been moving slowly, but people haven't been very dumb about driving - I have seen no accidents! I did see one stranded vehicle that made my day, though. A plow had recently gone by and there was about 18 inches of stuff blocking the driveways. Someone driving a big, dumb SUV saw it and thought, "I'm driving a big, dumb SUV - this is the exact reason why I bought this thing - to go over a small pile of snow in the city" and promptly got stuck on it. Ha.

I did venture out over the weekend with the children to a 2-year-old's birthday party (10Am to noon. Yes.). There was an astounding turnout because, at that point, all parents in the city were looking for a reason to get out of the house.

Trouble was going to go out on Saturday with a friend (they rode the bus), so she came in before the storm got bad and spent the day with us. Three adults may be the right number to have around for such occasions - I actually made a real dinner, Trouble did some of the shoveling, and she distracted the kids. One of those things would not have happened without her, and it probably would have been the dinner.
